Application and Relevance
This one (1) day training program is designed for people who wish to or are required to develop the skills and knowledge needed to operate elevated work platforms. Federal legislation states; that an employer must provide any information, training, instruction or supervision that is necessary to protect all persons from risks to their health and safety arising from work carried out as part of the conduct of the business or undertaking. WHS Act 2011: Division 2:19.3 Since 1987 the Elevating Work Platform Association of Australia (EWPA) has provided operator training throughout Australia known as the “Yellow card” training program. Providing this type of training has assisted owners, employers and operators to meet their responsibility under the OHS & WHS Acts where a high risk work licence is not required.
If you require the use of a boom-type elevated work platform with a height or reach of 11 metres or more, you must hold a valid National Licence to Perform High Risk Work class WP, issued by a Work Health and Safety Regulator.
Topics include and are not limited to:
- Hazard identification, risk assessment and controls
- Fall arrest harness inspection, fitting and use
- Identify safe operating parameters using data plate and manual
